Critical Thinking and Media Literacy

In this new world shaped by new media, we need new strategies to avoid falling into the same traps over and over again.

This is the eternal cycle of media technologies. As time goes by, the increasing demand for information drives media to develop more efficient methods to capture people’s attention. But alongside this noble purpose comes a growing arsenal of tools capable of spreading misinformation, making it harder and harder to distinguish truth from lies.

Now we have AI. Catastrophic.

Technology evolves faster than the law. We haven't yet been able to control the explosion of social networks and their social effects, and now we are facing the rise of AI without fully understanding the consequences it might bring.

This is not about fighting against technology, but about redefining education—focusing on equipping people with the tools to properly analyze both the benefits and the risks of using it. Critical thinking and media literacy have become essential skills to help people regain control over technology.

It’s difficult for human reasoning to outpace technological development. After all, technology exists to enhance our efficiency, which means it tends to improve nearly everything it touches. The key is to make people conscious and capable of strategically managing a tool that may have more power than us—but cannot function without us.
